It is a universal human characteristic that binds us all together. It is commonplace. It is honest. And it is natural. Love is quite simply the giving of yourself to others Love is smiling to a stranger on a street, giving a dime to a classmate for a drink or helping a friend in need. The only difference between this simple emotion and so-called “higher forms” of love is the amount of time you give to another person and the commitment that you give to them as well. With this, of course love is not the same as desire. Desire is a selfish emotional that only consists of a one-way relationship of satisfying your own needs. While I have described love as a “simple” emotion, please don’t underestimate its impact. Love has the power to bring people together (and conversely, the lack of love has the ability to tear people apart). The need for human connection that we all feel and pursue is fulfilled by love. I believe that love will soon be mankind’s savior and through love of our fellow man, we can change the world. And as the Beatles say, “All you need is love, love.
